Long term, application running this over 3-5 years, your method is better.

My answer to the original question would have been a question (to understand the background). i.e. What&#039;s this for?
Answer (a): Exam = use concat noting that normal b-tree indexes are not used when called with in a function.
Answer (b): Text pattern matching in an application... your method, maybe a text search engine, ... etc.
